Sakai Woven Fabric

Sakai Woven Fabric was founded by Bunji in 1933 with over 80 years. During the wartime, most of woven fabric workshops (Orimoto) were forced to close the business or to become as a military designated factory. Despite the condition Sakai Woven Fabric received the designation of the designated factory from the Government, maintaining traditional skills and contributing to the reconstruction after the war.

Even in modernization where efficiency improvement is required, not depending on state of art technologies, in order not to impair the texture of the material, most traditional craftsmen perform manual work at their own workshop.
